Hot Pepper Relish!

What do you do with  garden full of Banana Peppers a Hot Jalapenos?

We grew so many peppers we had to get creative with. So Gary looked up some recipes for Hot Pepper Relish.  We got a few more ingredients and off we went. Tomatoes-Carrots-Onions and even a couple of Apples.  Mix them all up and cook them and you get Hot Pepper Relish. I was a little nervous it would not work. It turned out pretty good!

Of course we were not totally prepared. Yes we bought the jars. But how do you get that all to work?  A quick trip to You -Tube and we figured out we were not ready. We needed to give our jars a hot water bath. I went to our neighbors Bobbi's house and she did not have that stuff any longer. Off to Teresa's (next neighbor down) house and sure enough she had a big pot and told me how to do it. Not to hard.

Super hot Jalapenos. Gary learned the hard way that you must handle them with care and wear gloves. The hot oils can stain your hands for days.

Andrew had fun helping. One of his jobs this summer was to water the plants. He had fun watching how big the plants got and how many peppers we grew!

We tried the Relish the next day on our hamburgers and fries. It was very good!  Adds a little kick to the burger! We will try this again next year for sure.
