Gary Whoops! It was a close call!

Ok why did I let Gary up in the attic? He is still not feeling well (ok he is still feeling terrible). David came over to help us with some computer problems. The router kept booting us off the Internet. So David came over with the girls and the girls requested to watch High School Musical 2.
To fix the router David and Gary had to go up in the attic and work on the equipment that is kept up there. Gary had been feeling dizzy all day and still running a fever. All of a sudden I hear this loud noise and think that some one has fallen down the stairs. But no I look up in the stair well and find a huge hole. And I hear Gary's voice.
He is so lucky he did not fall thru the ceiling! Of course it would have been the farthest place to fall in the whole house.
I guess I need to call a fix it man to fix the hole. It is nice that the hole is in the stairwell, as all the other ceiling's would be hard to fix.
Gary is having a MRI done on Friday. Yeah. He is still having his side pain. Also running a fever and is dizzy from a change to get off his pain medicine. He had a few very bad days. We think the worst is behind us. :-)

50th Wedding Anniversary!

I drove down to Utah for a Family Reunion for Mom and Dad's 50th Wedding Anniversary. We had so much fun. The whole week was packed with all kinds of activities! It would take me along time to tell all about it! Here is a quick outline of our week!
Gary almost made it to the Party on Friday. He had a plane ticket. But he was having a bad week so i told him to stay home close to his doctors. It ended up being good for him to stay home. He needed the rest and our schedule would not have been good for him. We missed him alot. I know he was sad to not be there. He really was. :-)
Sunday- Drive 13 hours to Cindy's-collapse and sleep
Monday- Drive 3 more hours to Brian Head meet family and head to Zion National Park

The Westra family- It was fun to be all together again. I am sure Greg and Johnny were having fun watching.

The whole Westra Clan- Everyone was there except Gary. Pretty good for 36 people. We all got along and had a great time. We put on a picnic for Mom and Dads friends. The program included a song by the grand kids and children and then the grown up boys sang a great song also.

We spent a few days in Brian Head. Johns boss let us use his vacation house. The scenery was awesome and we had a fun time exploring on the ATV's. Jenn's idea was to do a photo shoot in the Aspen trees. It turned out pretty cool. Good Idea. Too bad not everyone was there. It also rained 10 minutes after we were done getting back.

The whole gang. Kind of looks like a scene from a movie?

Poor Sandy!

Sad news about our family dog Sandy! While we were gone Sandy had an accident. Our neighbor was babysitting Sandy like normal. Our dogs are best friends and they play together everyday. Our fences join together by a gate and they love to play together all the time.

One day they came in from playing and she noticed Sandy's eye was bleeding and looked sore. So she took her to the Vet. She had some how pierced her eye all the way to the cornea. The doctor could not save it. They had to remove her eye and sew it closed. They kept her overnight to keep watch.

My poor neighbor! She felt so bad for Sandy and I. I did not leave her a number this time on how to get hold of us. Bad mommy! Luckily we got home the next day. She was very upset and and a wreck. Her daughters happened to be in town and they stayed with her to support her and Sandy. That was so nice of them. We had a quick cry and then I knew we had to be strong in front of Sandy so she did not get too depressed.

Sandy has been doing really well. She is eating and taking her medicine great. She did not drink for a couple of days. But she is drinking now. We are to keep her calm and mellow. She is loving all the attention and extra loves. We all feel so bad for her. I wish she could tell us how she feels. Andrew was very upset and Vincent tried to tough. But it really effected everyone.

We have looked around the yards and can not figure out how she poked her eye. It will be a mystery forever I think. We are glad she will recover. She gets her stitches out in 2 weeks. And she has to wear her cone till then . She keeps trying to scratch her face. Must be itchy.

Cabo San Lucas 2009

Here are my favorite photos from our trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I made a short video at the bottom
We had a great time even though Gary was not feeling well for most of the trip. He was a trooper and tried to make sure we did a few normal things. He was still just as cheap as ever at the market.
We swam alot and I took the boys to the beach one day for snorkeling. The weather was hot hot...over 100. But the ocean was cool and the pool was close by at all times. Our room was great and it was a nice retreat for Gary. We did a lot of room service and eating at the pool. Jet skiing will have to wait till next year.
We did wish for you all to be there with us.
Sorry all out of order.

I Dinner by the pool.
Vincent got sick on day. Not sure if he got too much sun or not. We are finding Vincent seems to get sick for at least one day when we go to Mexico. I hope he can break the chain next year.

Gary trying to feel normal in the pool with his music!

Gary Update-Still Nothing New

A quick update on Gary. He is taking time off work on a short term disability. The doctors have still not figured out what is wrong with him. They are trying all different types of test. He has seen 19 different doctors in the past 6 months. All have different ideas then get stumped. We are not sure how long he will be on this.

Gary almost did not go on our last vacation in fear of getting sick in Cabo or not having enough medication available. We were able to get some last minute medication from the ER. Our regular doctor was not available due to the holiday of 4th of July.

It was a close call but he made it. Vacation was alittle tough on him But he made it. Some days were better than others. I am glad we had a very nice room and it was cool inside. He was even able to get on line a couple of times to help pass the time.

Thanks for everyone being supportive of Gary during this time. I fell positive we will get this figured out.

4th of July! 2009

Vincent ready for a early morning flag ceremony. I just wished he had worn better shorts. Oh well. He did a good job helping with the flag.

our Ward has a flag ceremony and then a breakfast on the 4th of July.

We packed most of the day for our trip and then we stayed home and did a few sparklers that I smuggled in from Maple Valley. We had to get up at 3am to catch our flight to Mexico the next morning! Shh don't tell any one! Vincent did burn his hand. I am such a bad mother. But I love sparklers myself! So how could I resist when I was getting my hair done at Melains out in Maple Valley. It as just a minor flesh wound.

Go Andrew!

Happy Early Birthday Andrew!

Thank you Dad!
A cool new DSI. It does pretty cool stuff. It even has a camera in it. I was looking forward to playing with it myself.
We surprised Andrew with a early birthday dinner. We were getting ready to leave for vacation. We had a couple of plane rides ahead of us and we needed entertainment for Andrew. He was very excited and told his friends that we had a surprise party for him. The food was not good, but he enjoyed the presents and being surprised!
Hard to believe he is getting older-9. Andrew is such a sweet little boy. He loves to hold my hand and give his Dad hugs. He is great with friends and enjoys playing Lego's and video games. He also likes to read the Goosebumps books. I am so lucky to be his Mom!
